Criteria For Selecting Candidates For “God’S African Generals

Candidates must have demonstrated an outstanding and enduring impact on the growth and spread of Christianity within their nation, region, or the African continent at large. Their teachings, ministry, or spiritual leadership should have transformed lives and inspired generations of believers. Consideration shall be given to those who pioneered revivals, church movements, or ministries that significantly advanced the Gospel.

The selected individuals must have held or continue to hold notable leadership roles within the Christian community—such as founders of denominations, heads of major church movements, bishops, evangelists, theologians, or influential lay leaders. Their leadership should be marked by integrity, vision, and the ability to mobilize others toward kingdom work and social transformation.

Since character is the foundation of Christian witness, each candidate must have exhibited a life consistent with biblical values—marked by humility, faithfulness, moral uprightness, and service. Leaders with enduring reputations of integrity, even amidst adversity, will be prioritized to preserve the sanctity and authenticity of the book’s message.

Preference will be given to those whose Christian ministry transcended the pulpit to influence education, health, governance, human rights, peacebuilding, or economic empowerment. Such individuals will exemplify holistic ministry—showing how faith can shape the moral, social, and developmental landscape of Africa.

To capture the full span of Africa’s Christian journey, selection will include both historical and contemporary figures. Historical leaders—such as early African evangelists, missionaries, and reformers—will be juxtaposed with modern-day apostles, pastors, and prophetic voices who continue to shape faith in the 21st century. This balance will highlight continuity in Africa’s Christian witness.

Candidates will be drawn from at least 25 African countries to ensure broad continental representation. Selection will also reflect denominational diversity, including Protestant, Catholic, Pentecostal, Evangelical, Charismatic, and African Independent Church traditions, thus celebrating the richness of African Christianity in all its expressions.

Individuals whose ministries have produced measurable and lasting legacies—such as institutions, writings, church networks, or social programs—will be prioritized. Availability of credible biographical data, publications, or testimonies will be an important consideration to facilitate accurate documentation of their lives and work.

Both male and female Christian leaders who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and spiritual authority will be considered. The inclusion of women who have broken barriers, led ministries, or influenced faith movements will reflect the fullness of God’s work through all His servants in Africa.

Consideration will be given to those widely recognized within their faith communities and beyond for their service to God and humanity. Endorsements or acknowledgments from church networks, ecumenical bodies, or respected peers will help validate each candidate’s contribution.

Ultimately, each chosen figure must embody a story that inspires faith, perseverance, and transformation. Their lives should speak to God’s power at work in ordinary men and women who became extraordinary instruments of His grace in Africa.
